Data licenses and acknowledgements

License requirements for data downloaded from this website.

Except where otherwise indicated, data are provided under a non-transferable, non-commercial license. The full terms of use are available here .

Requirement to acknowledge CMIP model data:

When using CMIP model data, acknowledgement similar to the following should be included in your publication:

“We acknowledge the World Climate Research Programme's Working Group on Coupled Modelling, which is responsible for CMIP, and we thank the climate modeling groups (listed in Table XX of this paper) for producing and making available their model output. For CMIP the U.S. Department of Energy's Program for Climate Model Diagnosis and Intercomparison provides coordinating support and led development of software infrastructure in partnership with the Global Organization for Earth System Science Portals.”

Full details of the required citation and acknowledgement information for use of CMIP5 model data are given here .

Funding Sources

This website was originally developed (during 2013-2016) using funding from the Department of Environment under the Regional Natural Resource Management Planning for Climate Change Fund along with funding from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and the Australian Bureau of Meteorology.

Subsequent funding for maintenance and minor updates was provided by CSIRO.

The website was given an overall update in 2020/21, going live in March 2021. The update was supported through the Earth Systems and Climate Change Hub of the Australian Government’s National Environmental Science Program, with assistance from the Climate Resilience Enterprise initiative.

Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP): We acknowledge the World Climate Research Programme's Working Group on Coupled Modelling, which is responsible for CMIP, and we thank the climate modeling groups (listed here and in Table 3.3.1 of the Technical Report ) for producing and making available their model output. For CMIP the U.S. Department of Energy's Program for Climate Model Diagnosis and Intercomparison provides coordinating support and led development of software infrastructure in partnership with the Global Organization for Earth System Science Portals.
